A site for fiddlers and bluegrass musicians
to find links, reviews, resources and tools to
help in the pursuit of your fiddling passions.
Events and picks are important to the
budding and expert fiddler alike, so send in
your listings, I'll post em. Got a tip, review or
resource you think I should add? I'd love to
hear of it.
"Fiddle on!" The Kat
Lately, I've been hearing
the great original tunes
off Steve Martin's
bluegrass CD, The
Crow. Nice work Steve!
June '08-Chicopee MA - A pick with guitar guru Bryan Farley is
always special but when Pine Hill Rambler Doug Downey and
Maple Ridge front- woman Terry Atkinson join in it's a
not-to-miss event! Margaret held forth with plenty of burgers
dogs and her famous potato salad. Her deviled eggs are
sure to lure the most reclusive of closet pickers! Terry (AKA Dr.
Cookie) brought tempting treats of the most irresistable kind.
When Kat brings the chili you know there's some mighty fine
vittles we be havin'!
a fiddler's source for tips, tools, learning and fun
Fiddlehell set for
Nov. '09!
Dave Reiner will
host another great
event for fiddlers at
Stagecoach Inn,
Groton MA.

You Tube has some really cool fiddle resources. E.g.,
this vid of Richard Greene teaching 9 Pound Hammer.
May '09 - Terry Atkinson of Maple Ridge threw herself a graduation
shindig in early May. Pine Hill Rambler Doug Downey, Blackstone Valley
Boy Bob Dick joined Terry, me and other revelers. Bob and wife Cindy
sang some heavenly duets. Food and beverages from Valley
Fermenters added to the festivities.
Old News is Still Good News
Feb '09 Framingham, MA - Joe Val Festival was as
anticipated, the highlight of my winter. Boy is it grand to see
old friends, national acts and local faves in cozy comfort. I
especially enjoyed our favorites The Steep Canyon
Rangers. Dailey and Vincent did not disappoint, and what a
treat to see Bobby Osborne still holding forth (see me and
Bobby below)

Tip o' the hat to Jane
Hamel of Luthier's Coop
for keeping bluegrass
alive in Easthampton.

twice monthly jams.
Oxymoronic observations aside, a newly
discoverd bluegrass web-mag, The Bluegrass
Intelligencer has some of the most hysterical
bluegrass-influenced comic writing I have ever
seen. I love reading and leaving comments
almost as much as I enjoy the articles
themselves. See kat's comment on bluegrass
hair here.
Fiddle Hangout a discussion of bow rehairing
has some western mass resources. I might
just try the do-it-yourself instructions posted by
member John Timpany on a $40- bow!
