About Me:
I started playing fiddle in 1974. I had been introduced
to the fiddling greats of blues, rock and swing and
loved the singing, soaring tones that could be
produced by the fiddle. I started with old time and NE
contra dance tunes, which are pretty much
celtic-derived.
WIll the Circle be Unbroken was my entrez into
bluegrass. I was inspired by Vassar's electrifying
fiddling. I've spent the last 30+ years attempting to
become a competent bluegrass fiddler.
Today I'm back at playing after raising three kids. I try
to go to as many festivals as I can since playing and
singing and listening to bluegrass bring me much joy.
Learning to Fiddle:
I am mainly self-taught and I believe its possible to
teach yourself, but I improved my playing a great deal
after lessons with a classically trained violinist. Some
of the resources I used to self-teach can be found on
this site as well as many more.

fiddling. Nuf' said! To hear his positively electrifying
fiddling on Hiroshima Mon Amour during the
Muleskinner sessions, I believe, check out the widget
to the right to DL it now!
Emmy Lou Harris: OK, she's not a fiddler but she
inspires me.
Stuart Duncan: The cleanest fiddler around.
Kenny Baker: Does anyone know where you can get
a CD of Portrait of a Bluegrass Fiddler?
